K11 Konversations: How To Conquer The Streets?

How do three trailblazing women influence a global generation of graffiti and street artists?

With grassroot beginnings in 1970s New York City, graffiti is now an international phenomenon integral to street culture that continues to inspire the new generation of boundary pushing creatives. In this latest Zoom K11 Konversation, we speak with legendary photographer Martha Cooper and artists Lady Pink and AIKO on finding community and the world-conquering persistence to take to the streets.

As witnesses and participants with decades of insight into the graffiti scene in New York City, Martha Cooper and Lady Pink reminisce on their decades-long friendship, and the inspiring moments that propelled them to the world of graffiti. Belonging to a younger generation, AIKO shares her story of arriving in New York City from Tokyo, seeking a new life and discovering the graffiti community. The three headstrong women’s advice to anyone wanting to make their mark on the art world? Equip yourself with a close network of friends and mentors to support you in your quest to conquer the world with art!
